My close friend Zahraa has been teaching me that I should draw what I see and that it's okay to draw from photo references. I feel that a lot of artists are ashamed of doing so, as if it is cheating somehow. However, I've come to realize that your ability to perceive correctly plays a big part in being able to imagine, and thus, create.

She also told me that it's okay if your photo study is not 100% an exact copy of the photo you are referencing. You can perceive correctly but change things just because ya wanna.
